– Tetras are considered easy to keep in a community aquarium of at least 20L, with a pH of 5.07.0 and KH of 1.02.0. However, they will not tolerate dramatic changes to their environment. The Tetra can live 10 years or more with the proper conditions. They tend to be timid and, because of their small size, should not be kept with large or aggressive fish who may bully or simply eat them.

– This little fish will reward a dedicated hobbyist with hours of entertainment as it moves about the aquarium in a dignified but energetic fashion. The Ember Tetra is an eye catching fish that will light up any aquarium, and its temperament makes it a great choice for any community tank. They are easy to care for and look wonderful in groups. – Like many fish, this Tetra will appreciate a planted tank. Although it prefers softer and acidic water, many tank-bred specimens have spent their lives otherwise and will adapt. Wild-caught specimens, on the other hand, will be miserable in sub-optimal conditions. Good aquatic dealers will be happy to tell you whether their stock are wild-caught or tank-bred.
